
Getting Started with Ledger at Ledger.com/start
If you're new to cryptocurrency and want to keep your digital assets safe, a Ledger hardware wallet is a great choice. The setup process starts at Ledger.com/start, where you’ll find everything you need to get your Ledger device up and running.
What Is Ledger?
Ledger is a company that makes hardware wallets—small physical devices that store your crypto safely offline. This makes it much harder for hackers to access your money.
What You Need
To get started, you’ll need:
- A Ledger hardware wallet (like Ledger Nano S Plus or Nano X)
- A computer or smartphone
- Internet connection
- A pen and paper to write down your recovery phrase
Step 1: Go to Ledger.com/start
Visit the official website. Here, you can choose your device model and get step-by-step help.

- Learn how to set up your device
- Watch helpful videos
- Check for firmware updates
Step 2: Download Ledger Live
Ledger Live is the app you’ll use to:
- Set up your device
- Send and receive crypto
- Check your balance
- Stake assets
- Access NFTs and Web3 apps
Download Ledger Live for your device (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, or Android) and install it.
Step 3: Set Up Your Ledger Wallet
- Connect your Ledger device to your computer or phone
- Choose “Set up as a new device”
- Create a PIN code on the device
- Write down your 24-word recovery phrase
- Confirm the phrase to complete setup
Important: Never share your recovery phrase. It is the only way to recover your crypto if your device is lost or broken.
Step 4: Install Crypto Apps
In Ledger Live:
- Go to the Manager tab
- Search for the coins you want (like Bitcoin or Ethereum)
- Click Install to add the app to your device
Step 5: Add Accounts
- Click on Accounts
- Select Add Account
- Choose the coin and follow the steps
- Confirm with your device
Now you can see your coin balances and transaction history.
Step 6: Receive and Send Crypto
To Receive:
- Go to Receive
- Select an account
- Copy your wallet address
- Confirm it on your device screen
- Share it with the sender
To Send:
- Click Send
- Enter the recipient’s address and amount
- Confirm on your Ledger device
- Done!
Step 7: Stay Safe
- Only use official Ledger apps
- Never enter your recovery phrase online
- Always confirm addresses on your device screen
- Keep your recovery phrase in a safe place
